Terms of trade

The terms on which Evanchick Processing Ltd, trading as Evanchic, supplies jewellery to trade buyers.

Version 2 26 September 2026 Business to business only

1Who we are

Evanchick Processing Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales with company number 15658899, whose registered office is 32 Byron Hill Road, Harrow, HA2 0HY. We trade as Evanchic.

Where these terms say "we" or "us", they mean that company. Where they say "you", they mean the business buying from us.

Authentication of our stock is carried out by Laurence Ian Jewellers of Radlett, Hertfordshire, trading since 1979.

2Trade buyers only

We sell only to businesses buying in the course of business. By ordering, you confirm you are doing so, and that you are not a consumer.

This matters to both of us. Consumer contracts carry rights that do not apply here, including the statutory right to cancel a distance sale. Those rights do not apply to your purchases from us.

3Your trade account

  1. Prices and stock are visible only once we have approved your trade account.
  2. We approve accounts at our discretion and do not have to give a reason for declining one.
  3. Your sign-in is personal to your business. Do not share it. You are responsible for orders placed through your account.
  4. Tell us if your business details change, particularly your invoice address and VAT registration.
  5. We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, and we may do so without notice where the breach is serious.

4Our stock

Every piece we sell is second-hand, vintage or antique, and every piece is unique. There is one of each. Once a piece is sold we cannot supply another like it.

Photographs and descriptions are of the actual piece, not a representative example. Colours vary between screens and gemstones photograph differently under different light.

Stock shown on our site is stock we hold. We do not list pieces we have not bought.

5Prices and VAT

  1. Prices are in pounds sterling and are trade prices, available only to approved accounts.
  2. We sell under the VAT margin scheme for second-hand goods. VAT is accounted for by us on our margin. Our invoices do not show VAT separately and you cannot reclaim VAT on what you buy from us. This is how the scheme works and is not particular to us.
  3. The price on an invoice is the price. We do not add VAT on top.
  4. Delivery is charged separately and shown on the invoice. Within the United Kingdom it is £12 an order, or £15 an order where the pieces on it come to £2,500 or more. Outside the United Kingdom, including the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man, it is priced per order according to the destination. The figure on your invoice is the charge.
  5. Work we do to a piece at your request, resizing in particular, is quoted case by case rather than charged at a fixed rate, because the cost depends on the band, the setting and how far the size is moving. We quote it before we invoice you, and it appears as its own line on the invoice. We do not start the work until you have paid.
  6. We may change prices at any time, but never on an order already placed.

6Orders and reservations

  1. Adding a piece to your order reserves it for you for 24 hours. During that time nobody else can buy it.
  2. If you do not check out within 24 hours, the reservation lapses and the piece goes back on sale automatically.
  3. Checking out sends your order to us. For delivery within the United Kingdom, where you have left no note for us, your invoice is emailed to you straight away. Otherwise we check the order, price anything needed, and then email your invoice. Either way your pieces stay reserved for you until it is sent.
  4. If the invoice is not paid within 3 days of the day we send it, we will contact you. If it is still unpaid a day after that, the reservation lapses and the pieces go back on sale.
  5. Removing a piece from your order releases it immediately.
  6. A contract between us is formed when we issue your invoice, not when you add a piece to your order.

7Payment

  1. Invoices are payable within 3 days of the date we send them.
  2. Payment is by bank transfer to the account shown on the invoice, quoting the invoice number.
  3. We do not dispatch anything until payment has cleared in full. Pieces are held, not sent, until then.
  4. Time of payment is of the essence.
  5. We may charge interest on late payment at the statutory rate under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998.
  6. You may not withhold or set off any amount against what you owe us.

8Title and risk

Ownership of a piece passes to you when we receive cleared payment in full, and not before. Risk passes to you on delivery.

Until ownership passes, you must not sell the piece as your own, and you must hold it separately and insured if it is in your possession for any reason.

9Delivery

  1. We ship worldwide, insured and tracked.
  2. You choose, on each order, whether we send it to you or direct to your own customer. Tell us at checkout.
  3. Where we send a parcel direct to your customer, it is packaged and posted by us and arrives in Evanchic packaging. We do not pack or post under your branding. No prices, invoice or trade paperwork go in that parcel, and the certificate of authentication travels with the piece. If you would rather your customer received your own packaging, have the parcel sent to you and post it on yourself.
  4. Where you give us a delivery address for your own customer, we use those details only to get that parcel delivered, we do not market to them, and we hold them no longer than our records require. See clause 16.
  5. Delivery dates are estimates. We are not liable for delay caused by carriers, customs or anything outside our reasonable control.
  6. On international orders, import duty, local taxes and customs charges are yours to pay. We will tell you what paperwork a piece needs before it ships.
  7. Check the piece on arrival. Tell us about damage or a shortage within 3 working days of delivery, with photographs.
  8. Some pieces cannot lawfully be exported to some countries. If we cannot ship a piece to you, we will cancel and refund it in full.

10Returns

  1. You may return a piece within 30 days of delivery, in the condition it was sent, with its certificate and packaging.
  2. Tell us before sending anything back, so we can agree how it travels. A piece returned without notice and without insurance travels at your risk.
  3. We refund the price within 14 days of receiving the piece and checking it.
  4. Return postage is yours unless the piece was wrongly described, faulty, or not what you ordered, in which case it is ours.
  5. We may reduce a refund to reflect a loss in value caused by handling beyond what was needed to examine the piece. Resizing, repair, cleaning or alteration ends the right to return.

11Authentication

Each piece is examined by Laurence Ian Jewellers and issued a certificate recording what we believe it to be: the metal, the stones and, where we can establish it, the period.

  1. The certificate is our considered professional opinion, honestly given by a jeweller of long experience. It is an opinion, not a guarantee.
  2. Stone identification is by visual and standard gemmological examination unless the certificate says otherwise. It is not a laboratory report and does not certify treatment, origin or grading to laboratory standards.
  3. Where a certificate turns out to be materially wrong about metal or stone type, and you tell us within 12 months of delivery with reasonable supporting evidence, we will take the piece back and refund it in full.
  4. That refund is your only remedy for an incorrect certificate.

12Condition and description

These are old pieces. Wear consistent with age is normal and is not a fault. Hallmarks may be worn or partial. Where we have restored a piece, we say so.

We describe condition honestly and note anything significant. If a description misses something material, that is a fault and clause 10.4 applies.

Weights and measurements are accurate to the tolerances normal in the trade. Ring sizes are as found and can usually be altered by you at your cost.

13Ivory and protected species

Every piece is checked for ivory and for material covered by CITES before it is listed. We do not sell anything we cannot lawfully sell.

Where a piece contains material needing an exemption certificate or permit, we tell you before you buy and supply the paperwork.

You are responsible for compliance in your own country and for any onward sale.

14Listing on consignment

We may let you list pieces we hold on your own sales channels without buying them first. Where we do:

  1. The piece stays ours and stays with us. You never take ownership or possession.
  2. Listing is not exclusive. Other buyers may list the same piece and may buy it before your customer does. First order through wins.
  3. You must remove a listing promptly once we tell you a piece has sold.
  4. If you want certainty that a piece cannot go to anyone else, buy it outright.
  5. You must not describe the piece as your own stock or in a way that misleads your customer about who holds it.
  6. You are responsible for your own customer, including their statutory rights and their money. Our contract is with you, not them.

15Reselling

Once you own a piece it is yours to sell as you wish, at your own price.

You must not represent that Evanchic or Laurence Ian Jewellers guarantees, warrants or stands behind your sale to your customer. You may say a piece was authenticated by Laurence Ian Jewellers, because it was, and you may pass the certificate on.

You must not use our name, marks or photographs in a way that suggests we are responsible for your business.

16Your data

We hold your business and contact details to run your account, process and invoice your orders, and keep the records the law requires.

  1. Our lawful basis is performing our contract with you, and complying with our legal obligations.
  2. We keep transaction records for 6 years, as VAT law requires. The margin scheme requires a stock book recording what we paid, what we sold it for, and who we sold it to.
  3. We do not sell your details to anyone.
  4. Where you ask us to deliver direct to your own customer, you give us that person's name and address. We hold it to fulfil that order and for nothing else, we do not market to them, and we do not add them to any list. As between us, those details stay yours, and you confirm you are entitled to pass them to us for this purpose.
  5. Our full privacy notice sets out your rights and how to exercise them.

17Our liability

  1. Nothing here limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.
  2. Subject to that, our total liability for any order is limited to the price you paid for the pieces in it.
  3. We are not liable for loss of profit, loss of business, loss of a sale to your own customer, or any indirect or consequential loss.
  4. We are not liable for anything outside our reasonable control.

18Ending the arrangement

Either of us may close your trade account at any time by telling the other. Closing an account does not affect orders already invoiced, which stay governed by these terms.

We may suspend your account immediately if you fail to pay, breach these terms seriously, or become insolvent.

19General

  1. These terms, with your invoice, are the whole agreement between us and replace anything said or written before.
  2. We may change these terms. The version that applies to an order is the version you accepted when you placed it. We record which version you accepted and when.
  3. If a clause is unenforceable, the rest stays in force.
  4. Nobody other than you and us has any right to enforce these terms.
  5. Not enforcing something once does not mean giving it up.
  6. You may not transfer your rights under these terms without our written agreement.

20Law

These terms and any dispute arising out of them are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
